RAID Server Hosting

RAID ‘Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks’ is used with dedicated server hosting India where you need to have multiple harddrive for greater diskspace. We have different options from which we can choose the one as per requirements like RAID 0 , RAID 1, RAID 5 or RAID 10 with our servers.

If you select RAID 0 & RAID 1 configurations you have 2 Identical hard drives. The only disadvantage of using RAID 0 is that it does not help you in case of HDD failure where as if you opt for RAID 1 then all data is mirrored on 2nd identical drives which allows you to swap drives in case of failure of one drive. Accordingly, in case of HDD failure on RAID 0 all data will be lost therefore RAID 1 is mostly preferred option but you don’t have large diskspace as compare to RAID0. In the same way RAID 5 configuration needs 3 identical harddrives where data striping at the byte level is carried out and also stripe error correction information. Consequently, you can expect excellent results with high performance and good fault tolerance.

While placing order for dedicated server hosting India, you should always choose proper RAID structure as per your needs and budget, without RAID, a single dedicated server hard drive failure could result in downtime or you may need to reinstall the operating system from scratch. Using RAID 0 structure you have more diskspace as compare to RAID 1 where you can just use diskspace of single harddrive.. i.e. a pair of 80 GB hard drives will give you 80 GB of storage space, not 160 GB.
